I am still nursing a red eye with antibiotic drops and steroid drops.  The redness has gone but I cannot wear my contact lenses due to some injuries at the cornea.  Both my optometrist and ophthalmologist have forbade me from wearing the contact lense for another two weeks.  *sigh*  Life is no fun with spectacles all the time.  I can’t wear my sunglasses during long drive, couldn’t be bothered to put on eye make-up and that leads to not bother to make up at all or wearing anything decent.

I had stopped using the B&L contact lense solution for several weeks, and probably two months and yet I got this red eye.  I had never get such bad infection before.  So, I do wonder if the alternative brands I am testing out could be the reason.  Or is it the accumulated problems from B&L which I was previously using.

My optometrist said it is due to my long hours of wearing the contact lenses.  Oh well, whatever it is, it sucks having to wear spectacles all the time especially when I have an active toddler who jumped on me without warning, knocking my glass off.

Here’s a product alert I received today from the email sent by my optometrist.  I hope others are also alerted on the danger of getting a red eye.  See your doctor immediately because it can turned nasty and become corneal ulcer which can leads to blindness if not treated.

Dear Valued Customer

B&L PULLS MOISTURELOC WORLDWIDE

Bausch & Lomb announced Monday that it is permanently removing its MoistureLoc contact lens solution from worldwide markets effective immediately. According to B&L CEO Ronald Zarrella, “After an extensive investigation involving thousands of tests, millions of dollars and collaboration with government agencies, health authorities and independent experts, there is no evidence of product contamination, tampering, counterfeiting or sterility failure. That leads us to conclude that some aspect of the MoistureLoc formula may be increasing the relative risk of Fusarium infection.” The FDA and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention previously reported that MoistureLoc solution was disproportionately represented among the confirmed cases of Fusarium keratitis.

I’ve been using “Complete” contact lens solution all these while but yet I had the same problem as your eyes. Doctor forbids me to use my contact lens for another 3 weeks..:( My pair of glasses are covering my eye makeup now…

When I first started wearing contacts several years ago, I used CIBA Vision’s AOSept. Then, I switched to Complete and ReNu. I’m now using Klean & Kare SensiPlus, recommended by the optician. I was told that hospitals nationwide use this brand as well.
