Hair colour DIY gone wrong

Sometimes back, I won a L’oreal contest and was given twelve boxes of hair colour in various shades. I gave part of them away but still ended up with so many shades of colour from blonde to red to burgundy and mahogany brown. So, I had been DIY hair colouring just to get the stock off my shelves. Not that I am a fan of dyed hair or I have gray hairs that need colouring.

As I have very, very black hair, the dyes won’t show up much on my hair but after several assaults, I did get a decent brownish hair instead of black, boring hair. Then, I got my order to wear spectacles. Thinking that it would be nice to make my brownish hair to an even lighter brown hair, I went on and dye my hair with the last box of hair colour.

The box says : Mahagony brown. But heavens! After I washed out the dye, I ended up with a blacker than black hair. Even my children screamed, “Awww…mommy, what has happened to your hair? It is so black!!!!!” Duh, aren’t Asians suppose to have black hair? But one look in the mirror, I notice a change in my face. The blacker than black hair sort of makes my face older because it sort of enhances the lines. *sobs* Now, after 3 weeks, I am still waiting for the day my hair will be less black. Big mistake. I still can’t figure out how a mahogany brown dye can cause me to have blacker than black hair.

Since that is my last pack, I won’t be doing anymore DIY hair colouring. I also won’t spend 3 hours at the hairdresser to get my hair dyed. Maybe I will just wait for my hair to turn grey like Taylor Hicks. Who knows, he may win the American Idol and grey hair will be in fashion then?
