Female Circumcision
Reading this brings a chill to me. I feel the pain of these young girls who had to undergo a gorier ritual call Female Genital Mutilation just make me so sad.
Female Genital Cutting (FGC): An Introduction ~ Marianne Sarkis As you are reading this article, there are between eight and ten million women and girls in the Middle East and in Africa who are at risk of undergoing one form or another of genital cutting. In the United States it is estimated that about ten thousand girls are at risk of this practice.
Type I — Sunna Circumcision
The first and mildest type of FGC is called “sunna circumcision” or Type I. The term “Sunna” refers to tradition as taught by the prophet Muhammad. This involves the “removal of the prepuce with or without the excision of part or all of the clitoris
Type II – Clitoridectomy
The second type of FGC, Type II, involves the partial or entire removal of the clitoris, as well as the scraping off of the labia majora and labia minora . This takes place in countries where infibulation has been outlawed such as Sudan.
The above two are probably beareable to the women. But this Type III totally, totally does not make sense. It is not religious based.
Type III – Infibulation or Pharaonic Circumcision The third and most drastic type of FGC is Type III. This most extreme form, consists of the removal of the clitoris, the adjacent labia (majora and minora), and the joining of the scraped sides of the vulva across the vagina, where they are secured with thorns or sewn with catgut or thread. A small opening is kept to allow passage of urine and menstrual blood. An infibulated woman must be cut open to allow intercourse on the wedding night and is closed again afterwards to secure fidelity to the husband.

Women who have had the procedure are more likely to need Caesareans and the death rate among their babies is up to 50% higher, it said in a report.
The study, reported in the Lancet, involved 30,000 African women.
The practice is common in parts of Africa, where some believe it will maintain a girl’s honour.
‘Torture’
The report is the first of its kind to look into the long-term health consequences of female genital mutilation (FGM).
The WHO described FGM as a form of “torture” that must be stamped out, even if performed by trained medical personnel. (latest news from BBC)

This is seriously disgusting. No male in his right mind would want a woman to do that for his own sexual appetite. Honestly, it’s disgusting!
Mmm… I have seen a similar case before.. That lady is from North Africa. I have written a post on it in the past.
This is gross but sadly, it exists. This is usually also done without anaesthesia. and the women are also at high risk of infection.
I wonder if they have it here in Malaysia. Urgh.
If I’m not mistaken, Muslim women in Malaysia actually had to undergo some form of mild circumcision for religion purposes.
Jon – There are some men in the Arab world who actually prefers their women that way. I’ve done some research and lots of readings on FGM when I first found out bout a few years back and my heart still aches thinking bout the cruel way that is subjected to women all over the world.
