It is winter is in Northern Hemisphere and there are lots of Caucasian tourists in my little, sunny, tropical island. Penang is quite an attraction for budget travellers and is mentioned often in Lonely Planet.

Yesterday afternoon was exceptionally hot and there were lots of tourists walking along Chulia Street where most of the quaint, old and unique lodgings are. I can say that 60% of the female tourists are braless. Over here, we are used to these scenes. No jaw dropping, eye-popping matter. There are old, young, big busts, flat chested, black, white and almost every shape tourists. Eventhough these women are braless, they have to put on decent clothings or else, they may get warned by the local authority because if I am not mistaken, indecent exposure is against the law here. You can go braless but not topless.

With the hot weather, it must be darn comfortable for these braless women.

However, the remark made by Datuk Abu Bakar Hassan, the Penang Municipal Council president claiming that women who dressed sexily invite stares somehow disturbs me. I wonder if he is going to implement some dress codes for these tourists as well. Maybe he will come out with signs at entrances like the airports and ports like, “Put on your bra before you put your feet into *my* territory?”

Gah! I am still terribly annoyed with men like that.
