Oprah Winfrey featured a wedding of an American couple which was steeped in tradition.  It is the first time I see a Western wedding that has so much rituals that it can make even the hardest heart sobs.  The couple paused for a moment and rang a bell as remembrance of their deceased.

After that, they actually went on their knees to thank their in-laws.  The bride kneeled and thank the groom’s mom for bringing him up to be such a wonderful yadda yadda yadda.  And then, the groom actually cried when he thank his future (well, not so future actually) mother-in-law for giving her daughter to him yadda yadda yadda.  Is that sweet or what?

This is very much like the Chinese tradition of the bride and groom serving teas to their deceased ancestors, i.e. offerings of three cups of tea at their altar.  And they also serve tea to the inlaws on their knees.

After they were married by the pastor, they jumped over the broom.  Such unique tradition.

I notice a boom in holding huge and glamorous weddings lately.  I wonder if it is back to the trend to splurge lots of money on weddings?
