Frequent weighing turns teenage girls towards unhealthy lifestyles

Washington, Dec 6 (ANI): If you thought that encouraging your teenage daughter to weigh herself might help her watch her weight, then you better think again, for a new study has found that not only does it promote binge eating, but also unhealthy weight control behaviours.

The study was conducted by a team of researchers at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health who were led by Dianne Neumark-Sztainer, Ph.D., M.P.H., R.D., lead author and professor of epidemiology at the institute.

In the same article it was mentioned that doctors are encouraged not to ask teenage girls to step on the weighing scales. However, will this action help? The deluge of slimming advertisements, stick thin celebrities, the mocking of fat people on MTV for example are way too more influential.
