“When I grow up, I want to be like you.”
Recently, I was going around with a group of senior women/couples. There is something good to learn from them because it is like seeing our lives 20 years down the road.
One of them is a couple in their 60s. The husband drove a cool and hot sports car. The couple go everywhere together. But what warms my heart is how loving they are. They still can poke fun at each other, making jokes and had a lot of laughters together.
I quipped to the wife how I admire them as a couple. I hope to be like that when my kids are all grown up. She told me that one has to work on their marriage because somewhere along when the kids are grown up, they need to find things in common as a couple.
It is true. Right now, our lives as a couple is focussed on the children. Our conversations centered around them mostly. When the kids leave the roost, it means we have to find something to talk about all day. Well, I hope I ended up like the couple I mentioned.
