Things they torture the groom with

I have posted some photos of how a Chinese wedding ceremony goes. Normally, the bride is locked in her room, waiting for the groom entourage to come and pick her. They will come in their gaily decorated car with several others cars following. They will blast their honks to indicate they have arrived.

Upon arrival, the groom has to wait in the car until a little boy come with a cup of tea to receive him. The boy will open the door for the groom, fed him the tea and the groom has to give the boy an angpow. Then, the group will be ushered into the house for a round of tea again. After that…the groom is supposed to head for the bride. But wait…the bride’s girlfriends will mete out all sort of games and punishments to the groom and his friends. They are also expected to give angpows or red packets with money inside.
