Recently, I used two brands of tampons, i.e. Playtex and OB. Therefore, I can make a comparison and review just for information purpose.
Playtex – Comes with plastic applicator and wrapped in plastic bag.
Positive points : No bloodied finger and not likely to have a whole box of tampons swelled up in case you fell into the sea. The petal form makes extricating easy. (petal form – imagine a flower? The blooming part inside, the end of the flower outside?)
Negative points : Chore of disposing off the plastic bag and plastic applicator. Bulky too. It’s petal form leaks.
OB – No applicator but cling wrapped
Positive points : Discreet because so tiny. More compact than Playtex petal form and it will not turn so gross when hit the toilet bowl. No applicator to dispose.
Negative points : Bloodied finger and towards end of period (i.e. less blood), pulling out can be a bit dry and painful.
My verdict : I will go for OB. But where is Tampax? Tampax is no longer in the market. It has a paper applicator which we can flush down the toilet.
And don’t anyone try to sell me any cups or washable pads, ok? I.don’t.care.to.know.
