Upgraded from WordPress 2.02 to WordPress 2.1

Phew….who says you can’t teach old dogs new tricks? I had just proven that I can learn and do anything if I put my heart to it.

I just upgraded from WP2.02 all the way to WordPress 2.1. If you are a user of WordPress, you will know that it is a rather foolish risk because normally, the experts advised to do it step by step. Between WP 2.02 and WP 2.1. there are several upgrades in between. So, taking a big leap like that can and does cause a this site to show fatal errors messages.

I probably spent more than one hour trying to upgrade but failed. At one point, it was because my site has over quota on diskspace. Part of my files went up but midway, I couldn’t include WP-includes. LOL, so I ended up with a fatal error.

Thanks to my generous webhost, SapiensBryan, he increased the diskspace on the spot after receiving my email and voila, my site is running again. Now, I have to do some housekeeping to clean up those dead files on my site.

Final note : Don’t attempt to upgrade your WordPress to WP 2.1 Ella without first reading through the procedures. Going to their WordPress support forum will help too so that you know what to avoid.
