Daughter-in-law : Mother-in-law
On February 3, 2007

This is the photo that I mentioned I love most. It was taken by the professional photographer hired by my niece during her wedding.
In the Chinese customs, the daughter-in-law must kneel and offer tea to the parents-in-law. It is a sign of obedience, respect, honour and acceptance. I love the fusion of hands. I hope all the young brides and brides-to-be can realise the significance and importance of this gesture. We have gone into the home of this mighty woman whom we often referred as the MIL. One our wedding day, we had kneeled (in some cases) or bowed to her. So, is it any wonder that years down, we also have to have that humbleness?
Ah, well, my MIL is long gone, so it is easy for me to preach. Hehehe.
