I was having dinner with these bunch of late teens and young adults a while ago and the conversation led on to debit cards versus credit cards. One of them, a teen was happy with his debit card because his parents have banked in the amount for him to spend. Meanwhile, another young adult who have worked was lamenting about how tough it is when given the freedom of a credit card. Well, when one starts working, one has to foot the bill of their own credit cards.

As for me, the glamour of finally owning the card is over and right now, I have to give supplemental card to my eldest son. So, it is rather like a cycle. The thrill of getting a plastic card to swipe. Then, the glamour of being chased by credit card promoters with their credit card offer when we already earn a salary. After that, it is no longer fun. Later on, we have to bear our own children’s card. Then, when they start working, we no longer have to bear their financial costs and the thrill starts again. Well, that is if one is still healthy, young and fun enough to spend the card on their pursuits.

Well, for those of you who have problems dealing with your spending, you may want to read up more on this credit card blog. It has some useful articles on managing your money, some wacky ideas and other interesting read.

Trust me, one needs some discipline when given a credit card. Unless you have a sugar daddy with bottomless pocket.
