He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother
At one point in my life, I was prepared to deal with a son whom may not grow up like the rest of his brothers. The prognosis wasn’t good. He had some ‘abnormal’ masses and he showed signs of it. His head was tilted to a side, which is a sign of some impending problems.
My doctor broke the news to me that he may have cerebral palsy and he told me to be prepared for a long and rocky road ahead. I asked the doctor’s opinion on how to help my son best and he told me that the good facilities are not available on my island but in another state. Back then, I knew that all my other children’s lives are going to be uprooted because I already made up my mind that I will do everything that I can for the sick child. I know my kids too will understand the situation.
But well, things didn’t turn out the way I had planned.
