My stint as receptionist

Do you know that if you want to climb the corporate ladders, the best people to make friends with are the janitors, pantry ladies, despatch boys, secretaries and the receptionists? I kid you not. You may or may not read this in some management guru mantra but I have been a secretary who became chummy with the receptionist to know how powerful she is in the firm.

She is going to be the one who tips you on some important changes, pass some important calls to you and if she hates you, you may notice your clients gone missing. That’s why it is good to make receptionists in every firms happy because they are the image of the company. Give them beautiful reception desks, cushy chairs and feed them often with nice surprises and gifts.
