Before we left for the 700 KM trip, hubby took the 7-seater to the workshop for a complete check. We found out that we need to change the timing belt as it has past it’s recommended mileage. Then, we also had the aircond checked as we are afraid that the ac compressor may gives problem during the long drive.

So, in all, we spend almost $2,000 before we even leave. Add that to the shopping, toll, petrol and especially the differences in the foreign exchange, we actually spent quite a bomb. However, it does not matter because with family events, we cannot be so calculative. It was done with good fun and I know we won’t get a hole in our pockets. After all, car maintenance is of utmost importance to our safety and even if we do not go, we still need to get it checked and repaired.
