What makes good wedding gifts?

I was at my nephew’s wedding recently and I notice that people hardly buy wedding gifts anymore. Almost everyone give the newly weds cash which are wrapped nicely in red packets to signify luck. However, there are a few thoughtful gifts which are so lovely. There are crystal swans that look so breathtaking as decorations, useful kitchen stuffs and some lovely personal items.
