My siblings were discussing about going to holidays. They are very much older than me and they want to go to China to visit my father’s village. I joked with hubby if he can take care of the kids while I follow my siblings there because he won’t be interested in going on such holiday. He told me, “Sure can! Just bring the little one with you, you can go anywhere.” Doh. I certainly do not want a five years old to tag along.

Anyway, those kind of holidays are just not my cup of tea. It will be pretty boring to visit long lost relatives. It is the polling day today. Finally, the day has arrived. I am glad it is going to be over because I am beginning to get obssessed with it. I want to win. It is no longer an election but MY election. It is about what I want and who I want to win. It is about what we want as a nation. It is not a nice feeling, really. I prefer to remain the ignorant voter who just follow blindly. It is not a nice feeling to pine for my favourite party and it feels horrible to think what will happen if they lose horribly. OMG, I must not allow that thought to creep in.

That’s why I sucks at playing any game of chance. I want to win all the time and I feel rotten when I don’t. I cannot face losing a game. That’s why backgammon is not me. I will be so obsessed and bended on winning all the time I think the whole thing will consume me. Still, backgammon is certainly a good pastime if one doesn’t have that super egoistic ‘I must win all the time’ attitude like mine.

So, if you can deal with it, then, you may have a good time with the game because you can download the backgammon software on your PC and play. As I said, I will probably die of tension and disappointment if I got involve in the backgammon game as firstly, I do not know the backgammon rules and hence, will lose big time if I take up backgammon for money.

I just watched a show on E! about celebrity weddings and I cannot believe how these celebrities splurge on their weddings! USD1 million for Donald Trump’s third wedding in 2005 to Slovenian model Melania Knauss. Oh wow, that’s enough to feed a whole country for a whole year.

Then, there is the famous Madonna wedding to Guy Ritchie. Madonna is reported to spent USD6,500 on per wedding guest. She had it at some palace in Scotland, complete with fireworks, bodyguards and gold baptism gown for her baby.

Sigh…sometimes, I wonder how these celebrities get so filthy rich? From us, definitely?

Meanwhile, closer to home, we have the Mrs. K aka Siti Nurhaliza wedding which was like the wedding for the decade. Too bad that Mr.K now morphed into just another housewife.

It is a beautiful Saturday morning in March. Another new month and another month full of challenges. Probably this month is even more challenging than usual but I suppose if I call on the Lord, things will work out for me, according to His will. Thy will be done, oh God.

So, February did bring some new horizon to me and I hope if everything works out well, I can get a steady income from the new venture. But there are times when I wonder if it is work slogging away so much when I don’t really see the need of it. However, an idle mind is a devil’s playground so I better get those thoughts channelled into something useful than lay rotting in front of the TV.

Work keeps us human satisfied and that sense of completing something probably drive all of us to continue to slog on. My friend, the Apple nut bought iPod, iPhone and iMac and she is contemplating buying the new Mac too. I told her to go ahead as I am now too broke for gadgets like those. She told me how cool it is to have an iPod touch and went on and on about it. I told her I am too clumsy to own flimsy gadgets and will get them smashed and scratched in no time. Yes, it really sucks to be poor. That’s why one must always work hard not to be in debts. I have seen so many people close to me whom have lived a lavish life, splurging on big cars, big homes and designer clothes suffering now because of debts.

When you are at a certain age, you will be able to see how things turned out for others. That’s why older folks seem to be wiser because they have the live specimens to dissect. They have seen how one person lives and how their life turned out. Because of that, I know not to get over the top with my children.

In a way, I am glad that they turned out fine and don’t demand for things beyond our reach. I must praise the Lord for that. When they are older and making their own money, then, I know that they will be wise in their spending.
