One of the most common reasons women gave when asked if they are going to breastfeed their babies is they are afraid of having saggy breasts. I was involved in the breastfeeding movement for some years and we hear this very often. Some women are open to advices and they will listen to the breastfeeding counsellors about why breasts sag.

However, many just refused to give a second thought. So, why do breasts sag? Is it because of breastfeeding alone or more than that? Well, many women are surprised to find out that breastfeeding is only part of the contributing factor. Unless a woman takes the trouble to wear proper bras, they will still end up with sagging breasts even if they never have any babies. The most important phase is when a woman is pregnant. Her breasts will grow several sizes larger and hence, a proper maternity bra is very important.

This goes for those women who are active in sports. They too need proper support in the form of good sports bras . So, in short, if one has proper support in the correct bras, sagging is not as prominent as those who did not take care of this important aspect.

Therefore, ladies, are you getting the right support? Don’t delay because all these will lead to sagging breasts in future. Don’t take for granted that if you don’t get pregnant and don’t breastfeed, you won’t get sagging breasts. Gravity will see that you do.
